16 players remaining
The morning is just as hot and muggy as the previous day, but this morning the air hangs heavy with clouds. There's smoke still in the air from the volcano yesterday; not as dark and thick, but still enough to make your lungs hurt and your eyes burn if you exert yourself too much, especially in the vicinity of Zone 0. Later in the afternoon, the clouds burst; the heavy rain only lasts a few hours, but it clears away the remaining smoke. Otherwise, things seem calmer today, though there are still places where the jungle is damaged from explosives yesterday, and it seems that the foot bridge between Zone 3 and 4 has been bombed out, and is no longer accessible.
As the sun rises, an announcement plays:
Good morning, contestants! Today, Zone 4 is off-limits. If you're in Zone 4, you have an hour to leave it!
Also, we've learned some of you don't like playing this game! Special new rule! If you kill your partner, you get to go home! If your partner already died, sorry, that's too bad. Okay, good luck!
True to these words, an hour from sunrise, the road bridge and tunnel to Zone 4 will be locked off by a thick metal gate. The rest of the arena is still accessible, but around midday, a fire in Zone 1 will begin to push players out of that zone as well. As a result, everyone will be pushed towards Zones 2 and 3.
(OOC: When starting a thread, please put in your header the following: ZONE # - TIME - AREA. This will hopefully make it easier for everyone to keep track of which character is where.
Please remember to update the Weekly Check-in with your character's planned movements. Check in is due by Monday at 9 PM)Setting

Weekly Check-in
Zone 0 | various | 1-4PM
[Iceland is pretty wary of this place, considering what happened last time. Still, the crates are tempting. If he just opens one, it should be fine, right? He checks to make sure no one's in the immediate vicinity and that there's no one actually inside the hut (no bees, either) before he uses the non-spear end of his makeshift fishing spear to pry a crate open.]
B; near the magma fields, 3PM onward
[With the smoke cleared away, Iceland is taking the time to examine the magma fields a little more closely. To most people, this would be an extremely dangerous prospect, but Iceland was born of volcanoes as much as he was of his people, so what he's really doing is judging how quickly he could use it as a possible escape route if he had to.
He has a bruise on his neck, looking like a dark black butterfly just above his collar, and his left eye is red from burst blood vessels. Someone probably tried to strangle him. Occasionally he raises a hand to his eye, but he always puts it back down. If he rubs it, it will make things worse, even if it does itch.]
B
Except not, because Harriet is certainly not making a rapid approach toward the piping hot magma. He seems to be alone, which is interesting considering the morning's announcement, but it wasn't like there was anywhere nearby that his partner could be hiding for a trap either. She decides not to find it suspicious, for now. Still, what is he even doing? She finds herself lingering nearby to watch him (and quietly making note of the unusual bruise, but she can't see more than the back of his neck for now) ... you know what, she has to ask.]
Staring into magma. What on earth do you want in there?

It's good to know the territory. [Magma is part of this territory.]
no subject
[It isn't a part she's considered getting acquainted with. If others are, though... her curiosity is piqued.
His guarded stance is also noted, so she'll keep her distance as well. From the look of his eye, he has good reason to be wary. For what it's worth, both of her hands are free at the moment, though her weapons are within reach. She points at her own eye.]
Who did that?
[Might as well learn who else is hostile.]
no subject
Mayu. I guess she's dead now, so it doesn't matter.
["I guess". Iceland has a good poker face, though.]
no subject
... Yup. "Just Desserts", as the trap card says.
[which is apparent nerd speak for karma's a bitch. She won't really elaborate either, so for all he knows it could be sympathy on her part. She stops pointing to set her hand on her hip instead.
But, poker face or not, it looks like Mayu came pretty close to killing him. How did he escape? She was a rasetsu, after all... she's gotta ask.]
Was it you?
no subject
She killed your partner, right? ...Sorry.
[But the snorkel might have some uses. Not that he's showing it off.]
no subject
She won't know that he has it, but hopefully the snorkel wouldn't bring him the bad luck from its two dead previous owners. Harriet didn't expect condolences to come out of this conversation (did everyone know it was Mayu now?) but she nods after her brief surprise fades.]
Word does travel quickly. Everyone I've met has been quite sympathetic... my thanks.
[It's worth noting. For a bunch of people that are meant to kill, at least there's not much outright disrespect for the dead.
but hey, on the topic of dead partners.]
...Do you think anyone'll go for this motive?
[she notices he's split from Norway. But, they were brothers, right... perhaps it was purely directed at Sougo, but she hasn't seen him since their walk in the flowers.]
no subject
[But Iceland clearly has no intentions of doing it, based on tone alone. He and Norway have to get out of here together, there was no other option.]
If it's aimed at who I think it's aimed at, we'd probably all be better off. [He saw Sougo and Hijikata's ratings.]
no subject
[maybe he really would prefer to kill everyone first, and then Hijikata would be the only one tempted by such a bargain. Or maybe there's a little more to those guys than they let on... she may have caught a glimpse of that, before.]
Oh well. It matters even less to me, obviously. [Still sounding bitter about partnerless life....
She gazes idly back out at the magma field after that. They're just kind of standing around it, despite its inherent danger, so she had to eventually.] Don't let me interrupt what you were doing there, by the way. I'm actually curious.
[teach her about volcano stuff!!
but not hands on like tamaki]no subject
[And also checking on the obvious, but admitting he was checking on the lava specifically sounds a little too antagonistic. And also weird.]
B
Huh, is that...?]
Isn't this kind of a hot place for someone who calls himself The Ice Land? Not that it isn't ice to see you! [IRON BULL LAUGHING ALONE AT HIS OWN PUN]
no subject
He's just going to hope this guy makes more puns.]
It's good to know as much of the territory as you can, I think. Better than being surprised.
no subject
I didn't think someone like you could be surpriced. [Okay he's done for now...probably....not....]
no subject
Depends on how well I pay attention so things don't escape my notice.
[Iceland manages to say that with a completely straight face. Okay, so maybe Iceland is kind of fond of stupid wordplay.]
