The morning begins as another hot and muggy day on the island, though there's a little more of a breeze, and as a result, the weather is slightly more pleasant. It's a calm day out on the seas, too, though there are a few clouds gathering in the skies. This morning, the birds in the jungle are chirping loudly.

As the sun rises, an announcement plays:

Good morning, contestants! You must now switch zones from where you were last night. You won't be allowed back into that zone until you hear from me again. Don't test the rules, or you might regret it!

Now, today will be a special day. There will be fun surprises all day long, so stay alert!

True to these words, throughout the day, you'll notice a number of dangerous situations seem to occur roughly every few hours, though trying to time your watch to it won't work perfectly. Still, you can expect the following throughout the day:

10 AM: An earthquake! The earthquake lasts about five minutes, and rumbling aftershocks take place throughout the hour. You might want to avoid anywhere rocks or trees could fall, and to try and avoid inside spaces, caves, or other shelters that could collapse. You might also want to avoid the beaches and seek higher ground, as dangerous waves crash onto the shore.

11 AM: Rain. A heavy rainfall will fall throughout the hour; if you're outside in it, you're liable to get soaked, but inside spaces may get flooded. During the rainfall, the waters will be choppy and dangerous.

1 PM: Lightning. In Zone 4, the zone hums with live electricity, sparking small fires and breaking windows. You should try and get away from anything electric. In the other zones, lightning strikes trees and sparks jungle fires. In Zone 3, the swamps become particularly toxic, and panicking animals are likely to attack.

3 PM: An aerial attack. Small devices, too far away to really see what they are, are up in the sky, and will drop items. The items may contain poison gas, may contain explosives, may contain food and water. The attacks will take place at random intervals for two hours - when one begins, you had better run and scatter.

6 PM: The volcano on Zone 0 rumbles ominously, and projects smoke into the sky. The smoke is thick, dark, and makes it hard to see and breathe. But nothing else happens. While immediately at this time the smoke is thick and dangerous, it dissipates but never completely leaves.

You can try to hide, run, or fight your way out of these situations. It's very likely that at some point you and your partner or crew will get split up, or have to run for it, but it's up to you where you go and what you do.

Zone 3 all over the place but not even on shore (9:30-11:30)

[Haruhi Suzumiya has an orange two-piece swimsuit, a small waterproof sack, and a mission. Swimming north. She's sure she's seen land in that direction from the lighthouse. There's an audience member who believes in her and someone else who approved his or her sponsorship. And even if Jack suspects where she's going, he's got to be hours behind her.

It's a great plan, right until some kind of awful tsunami sets her off course and away from Nui. After that initial terrible shock, she has the energy to keep on swimming, under the bridge, alongside the cliffs, and finally just giving out to wash up on a north-facing beach.]

Zone 2 northeast beach/buildings (11:15-1:00)

I made it!

[Haruhi stands on not one but two of her own feet, wearing only regulation pants that started out dry over her swimsuit, making a victory sign and grinning widely enough that her eyes are shut. Her teeth chatter from cold. She almost doesn't understand that it's raining, at first; it just feels like there's no difference between being in and out of the water.

Well, there are cabins right here; can't she explore those and stay dry in the meantime? She goes inside, and might even get ready to tuck into lunch. Unfortunately for her, the building is actually prone to flooding. Her first backup plan is to perch on the table, and her second is to bail out a window.]

Zone 4 | 11am | Beach (Formerly in zone 3)

[The note was really the insult to injury. It wasn't the insect's sudden attraction to her that she minded; it really was the petulant tone that was too familiar for comfort, as if she could pin the sender down with near certainty.

Forget discomfort. Tokaku was outright irritated, and not by the itching in this case.

She allowed herself to be soaked by the rain as much as her body could withstand it, letting the water take care of her abused skin and the smell she could barely make out. The fact that she could hardly use that sense at al was proving to be a bigger impediment than anticipated.]

The moment I'm out of here I will find you and stick your own notes in your eye socket. [She muttered through chattering teeth, looking over her shoulder to decide which building to take shelter in later.]

[glasshole]

[He's been separated from his crew again, frustratingly. He's exhausted and cranky; it was a near sleepless night, what with all the developments with Mayu. He no longer believes Tamaki will fall off a cliff and die if he's out of his sight for five minutes, but he's still not happy about it. And that's what has him venturing out in the rain, staying in buildings and doorways if he can, but it's still hard to avoid getting wet while actually looking for other people.

He notices Tokaku out on the beach, and he pauses, wary. He recognizes her card as one of the dangerous ones. He waits to see if she starts to move; he might reveal himself if so if only to avoid her being surprised by him.]

[For a brief moment, Tokaku considers stripping down and going for a swim either to alleviate the rest of the bites or escape the worst of the rain. She's soaked enough as it is, and it's quickly apparent wasting the last of her energy wrestling waves may be the dumbest idea she's considered yet.

And all of her ideas have been disastrous, so far.

She picks up the container she's been hoping the rain has cleansed by now--then turns to kick the sliding door to the warehouse behind her. When no noise aside from the rattling mechanism is sounded, she finally slides it open. It's as good as calling to see if anyone's inside.]

ZONE 4 | Various | Various

Zone 4 | Store | 12:00 PM

[With the new rules, they have to depart the relative safety of Zone 2, and their more comfortable hideout. Zone 3 they know to be dangerous, but Zone 4 is supposed to be more manageable, so that's the destination.

After the confusion caused by the earthquake and the flooding, he will meet Tamaki at one of the abandoned stores. With Jack and Mayu gone, there's a lot to talk about.]

Zone 4 | Railroad Tracks | 4:00 PM

[In the afternoon, he ventures out, after one of the aerial attacks, to examine what's left behind. Of course, he's quite cautious about his surroundings, staying out in the open but within easy running distance of the shelter of the train station.

But he can be found crouched next to one of the explosives, examining it.]

1PM, outside near the stores
[It hadn't taken long from when Norway and Iceland emerged in zone four from zone zero to meet with a minor disaster--namely, a fire sparked by the lightning storm that had separated the two of them. Without Norway in sight, Iceland finds it's safer to keep moving instead of just standing in the rain and waiting for Norway to appear. He has to be around here somewhere; there's no way he would leave the zone without Iceland.

As a result, Iceland is keeping a sharp eye out for anyone approaching. He's not out for a fight right now, though.]

1:45PM, near the generator - for Mayu
[Nearly an hour, now, and Iceland hasn't seen any sign of Norway at all. He's pretending he's not worried, but it shows in the increased speed of his walk and the way he keeps pausing like he's considering something. He wants to start shouting, because surely Norway would be able to hear--but no, that's dangerous. He could call in Norway and someone with much worse intentions and then there would be trouble.

He pauses near the generator's fence, peering inside. It looks too dangerous right now. Norway probably wouldn't be in there. Probably. Maybe he should check...]

2PM, near the generator - for Norway
[Iceland's sense of self-preservation seems to have vanished with all the noise he's making. Far from his usual aloof or grumpy demeanor, he's crying in messy gulps, rubbing uselessly at his face with his left hand, one of the small parts of his upper body not covered in blood. He doesn't have the energy to get up off the ground, but he doesn't really care right now.]

[glasshole]

[Right. He can vanish without calling any attention to himself, but he's reasonably prepared to at least fend off an attack. So why not say something, and get a sense of one of the competition?

Of course, he'd better speak up as soon as possible to avoid any confrontation.]

Miss Azuma, was it?

Zone 4

[Every second spent alone with Kyouya in which nothing terrifying is happening is a precious diamond of friendship.]

Are you all right? You weren't hurt in all that commotion, were you?

[glasshole]

[Well, not hurt, but cranky and wet. He's too rich to get this rained on.]

Do I look hurt? It's fine. We're likely to experience the same all day.

[sparklyrichbastard]

That doesn't make it fine...

[Gives him one last look over.]

Do you think we can take a moment to dry our clothing?

[glasshole]

I think we can spare it. There may be dry clothes on the shelves.

[Plus maybe it will get them another sponsorship.]

[bloodvow]

Who is it? [Which isn't the smartest thing to ask, and entirely pointless when she turns around anyway, one hand still on the door. Dark hair. Glasses. Dead ringer for Koko. For his sake she hopes he isn't as clumsy at that useless assassin.]

You went around memorizing everyone's names?

[glasshole]

Kyouya Ootori.

[He puts his hands up in a gesture to show he means no harm, though he can easily reach for the stun baton clipped to his waistband if he needs to.]

I make it a habit to be aware of that sort of thing.

And why let yourself be known? You can see I'm in no shape to chase you around. Even then, you're risking others paying attention to you.

I haven't seen anyone around I don't know except for you. Hence my introduction.

If we're both in the same area, you can't fault me for wanting to be aware of your intentions.

[Speaking of people with bad intentions...

Mayu doesn't have a bad leg anymore, but between the earlier excitement, falling into the water, dragging herself to shore, and then having the sun beat down on her as she tentatively makes her way around this area, she's more or less exhausted, so she really does look like she's limping. She's sure if the situation calls for it she can muster up the strength to fight, but right now she just wants to rest, and find Jack. Not necessarily in that order.

She's found Iceland instead, though. When she sees him near the generator, she stares at him for a moment or two as if she's wondering if she's seeing a real person, or just a ghost.]

Ice..land.

[Her voice comes out as something very quiet and barely there.]

[Having apparently decided that bridges are for chumps, Harriet is swimming to zone 3 in accordance with the strange rule for the day. The water is choppier than she expected, but she's a strong swimmer, so she's faring well enough even without a proper swimsuit... she looks a bit surprised when she spots someone coming toward her, though.]

Haruhi, is that you?

[calling out across the waves!! It's been a while since she's seen that girl. She seemed quirky, but from the look of her now, she's been doing pretty well. Where do you even get a bikini in this place?]

[volcanoes]

[Quiet as Mayu's voice is, Iceland still snaps to attention when he hears it, looking over at her. She looks exhausted, and he does notice the limp, but he doesn't realize that's unusual now. He remembers Norway's instruction to hide, but he still has to find Norway.]

...Mayu.

Harriet???

[Haruhi's conscious is beaten by her subconscious in placing the voice - one she trusts relatively a lot. She turns her head and doesn't see Harriet immediately, so in a grand game of Marco Polo (which, all irony considered, they probably played at some point) she continues running her mouth, treading water, soaked hair fanned out and ponytail virtually disintegrated.]

It's me! It's me. I'm so glad you're okay. I mean, I didn't hear anything that suggested you wouldn't be, so if you were dead it would have been because of the tsunami just now, and of course we're both good at swimming. [If Harriet can make out Haruhi's face, this is the only time that her chatterbox's smile slips into her melancholy expression.] My condolences about Silver, though.

zone 3 | 10:15-11am | trails

[ This guy got up rather early in the day and found himself kicked out of zone 2. So zone 3 is where he is camping now.

Well, camping...

He decided to troll whomever might pass by. Now up in the trees by the trails, he throws random fruits - they might be coconuts - at any passerby. Sorry. ]

[Mayu looks over their surroundings, and what starts as a quiet giggle increases in volume and, perhaps, sounds the slightest bit unhinged as she realizes that neither his partner nor hers is anywhere nearby.]

Ah... we both got separated again, didn't we? ...from our partners...

[volcanoes]

[A reaction like that is enough to make Iceland take a step back and start glancing around for escape routes. He mostly has buildings and empty space, and the buildings aren't as close as he'd like. Mayu does have that injured leg, though...

He really wishes Norway were here.]

...Yeah, I guess so. ...Norway shouldn't be that far away, though.

[He has to be in this zone somewhere.]

...he shouldn't.

[And then she's giggling again, because either she doesn't notice his discomfort or she just doesn't care. She's smiling, too - maybe in the past, before this terrible game and before getting spirited away to the village, it would have been a soft smile; but there's something sharp and unpleasant about it now.]

Norway... Norway... [She repeats the name and then hums, thinking.] Oh! I ran into him...

just like she ran into Holden and Beat and Silver and Yona and Craig...

But, wow. Even if she's just trying to reassure him that his partner is nearby and it's all fine (their extended promise hasn't yet come to an end, in her mind), that really did come out horribly. Maybe she shouldn't be giggling and smiling like a serial killer when she says something like that.]

[Iceland swears he can feel the blood drain from his face; he's pale already, but he looks even whiter all of the sudden. Mayu running into anyone like this makes him nervous, especially if it's Norway. She's killed at least three people, even with that leg. But no, Norway would definitely be able to overpower her. She's just a seventeen-year-old girl, no matter who she killed.]

...Ah. [He should really leave, but with Norway as the topic of discussion, his feet don't move.] When was that?

Not too long ago...

[After the two of them were separated, that is. He's not with her now, probably because 1. He's a paranoid maniac and 2. She's just a maniac and even if he wasn't paranoid he could probably figure out that she should be avoided at all costs.]

Our promise doesn't apply to him, you know. [And that very well might be all Iceland hears - although Mayu follows it up with a soft,] But...

["But I figured you were probably somewhere close by and didn't want to have to murder you too if you walked in on me killing him, aren't I such a good friend?"]
