...We can afford to let our guard down even less with them than with others. I did choose them because they seemed reliable in their own way, but we'll likely outlive our usefulness to them and we have to be prepared for it.

We need to avoid getting too comfortable. You aren't suited for it, but try to remember they're allies, not friends.
