28 players remaining
The morning the game starts, all pairs will be escorted from their rooms by friendly robot buddies into their own underwater shuttle waiting to take them to the arena. Should anyone try to resist, the collar around their neck will start beeping ominously and their friendly robot escort will become a lot less friendly and a lot more forceful. While in the shuttle, each player will be stripped of whatever clothing or items they have on them. The robot buddies will give each player the following:- a uniform consisting of a light water-resistant jacket, a t-shirt with the words BLOOD MATCH '15 emblazoned on it, track pants, and standard-issue undergarments. All clothing has been tailored to the player's size perfectly and comes in a classy shade of steel grey.
- a small backpack which holds: three matches, a small canteen with a day's worth of water, and a day's worth of packaged rations
- a digital watch
- a booklet with all the character information cards in it
- a randomly assigned tool
The shuttle ride lasts for around half an hour, docking in a large garage. A friendly robot buddy will then guide each pair into their own elevator and a countdown will begin from 10. Once the countdown hits zero, the elevators will rise and the players will emerge in a shallow bay of what appears to be a volcanic island.
(OOC: Please update your character's info card with the ranking they would have likely received based on observation of their stay at the training facility. Rankings should be between 1-10.
Also, when starting a thread, please put in your header the following: ZONE # - TIME - AREA. This will hopefully make it easier for everyone to keep track of which character is where.)Setting

Now, to just find Colonel Sanders.
[ That was a Higurashi reference for the unaware.
And he is indeed trying to find him. He's holding a walkie talkie with one hand as he peruses the area. ]
This is Katpiss from team Peeniss. Did you find the Colonel yet? Over.

At any rate, he'll take one look at the hut and brace himself.]
Hold on tight, kid!
[And he'll go ahead and bullrush (ha ha ha) his way towards the hut to grab two backpacks, passing one up to Cole. He won't attempt to hurt anyone else running towards the hut, but he won't hesitate to defend himself either.]

Their goal is the crates. They can use the branch they've dragged to pry open the crates and see what they contain. Hopefully no one else is even here. If not, well, they're not defenseless. For example, they have a huge tree branch. Also daggers, but the tree branch is more intimidating, probably.
This is terrain Iceland is intimately familiar with, at least. If he's confident about anything, it's his ability to move around in this zone.]

Zone 0 -> Zone 1 - ~9:30AM - Zone 0 Beach -> Ocean -> Zone 1 Beach
But this is easy enough; better on his feet than running will be, he's sure, and the jacket seems water resistant enough. They'll have to check supplies more thoroughly (they'd only done a quick search to grab anything that would be ruined by the water and secure it more carefully), and once they know what they have they can work from there, but Iceland's probably skipping ahead a little with the way his blood is pounding through his veins.
On the shore, he doesn't even stop to dry off before he continues the trek; the beach is pretty exposed, so of course they're not staying there.]

Once they arrive in the shade of a few mountains, he stops and drops the two backpacks he has, the small and the large. ] Let's see.

zone 1 - ~3pm - mountains/lighthouse side
They're taking their time to get through the rough terrain, breaking frequently and keeping somewhat sheltered to stay out of the open. While they're both keeping on guard, neither of them seem poised to attack, and anyone who approaches in a friendly way will be met in kind! They also seem to be keeping an eye out for something or someone, but the overall hostility remains low.]

I don't understand... [She peers around and then twists a little to look back the way they came, then straightens back out and tilts her head up to look at the sky.] I thought most islands had people living on them. But it seems like it's just all of us.

Zone 0 to Zone 1 - 9:10 am - Tunnels
Tokaku decides to pick them off other people, instead, whipping around to clasp a decisive hand around Yona's wrist, one tug to remind her of their agreement before sprinting northward towards the tunnels. Away from everyone else. There will be time later for everyone else.]

Zone 2 | 10:30 AM | Meadow > Jungle
The original plan was west, but there's too much traffic that direction, it's clearly dangerous. Sometimes there's strength in numbers, but a split second decision has him running for Zone 2. Despite (or perhaps because of) being spoiled rich kids, both he and Tamaki are fast runners, able to cover a lot of ground quickly. Zone 2 turns out to be more exposed than he's comfortable with, and he immediately veers left of the dirt road - that's asking to be found.
Instead, his destination will be the jungle. As soon as there are enough trees around for some cover, he'll stop running, pausing to catch his breath.]
I think that will do for now...
no subject
[Tamaki nods and wipes the sweat from his brow. He glances around, lingering a bit on the fruit, trying to discern whether it's safe to eat or not; or rather, he already knows it's unsafe to eat thanks to the reading he's done over training week, but is trying to convince himself that he's mistaken.]
I saw a building...
[There's a note of resignation there. He knows it's not much more viable than the fruit.]

Zone 1 | 4:15 PM | Freshwater Lake
Things looked a little better around the lake, though. Leaning against a tree, she glanced over at her partner.]
Let's take a break. See what we can scrounge up for dinner.
[They had some rations in the bag Acchan had snagged, but even Mayu had to agree that was best used only if they couldn't find anything else. Much to her stomach's dismay.]
If things look clear enough, we could camp too.

Atsuko lets out a sigh and props herself against a nearby tree. ]
Mmm. I don't think we have anything we could use as a fishing rod, though. [ must they go the bear-slapping-fish-out-of-the-water-with-its-paws route??? ]

Zone 1 | Entrance | 11:00 am
Ughhhh! Stupid KNIFE! Man, where the hell did it go?
[His radius of hilariously ineffectual searching is gradually extending further away from the entrance toward the trees... which is a shame, because the dagger he's searching for is in fact laying inside a large stretch of weeds and scrub against the side of the tunnel. He could not be doing a worse job of finding it even if he was deliberately trying not to find it, looking in absurd places and facing in every direction except for the one with the knife. Despite that, it's actually kinda.... blatantly visible, when you're standing in the tunnel itself. And it sure is shiny and tempting!!]
Damn. We in big trouble widdout that dagger, yo...
[Wow. Maybe he shouldn't be advertising this to the world? Beat. What are you doing. Someone is going to get hurt.]
no subject
I don't get it. Where's the dagger? In those crumby dime a dozen adventure novels there's always a glint or something. Because it's metal, and there's too much sunshine. I thought California was bad being bright and sunny all the time. The roads were covered in soda cans. Knives were probably the same way. There are times snow would just fit the mood better. Because your shoes are already worn out from too much pacing so you might as well wear them on the slushy roads too. I swear, I feel like I'm liable to die of heatstroke before anything else, especially if we don't find--
Oh!! ...no, that's a rock. Damn dagger... sword would be harder to lose. It really would.
Zone One | Mountains | Nightfall
She has been for a few hours, ever since Jack went on ahead to scout out the area. At that time, the sun had been fairly high in the sky, but now it's dipped below the horizon and shadows are starting to settle themselves around her.] He'll come back, [She whispers to herself, as she paces back and forth.] He'll come— aaaah!
[Her bad leg buckles under her, and she hits the ground hard. For a moment or two she stays very still, as if weighing her options. If she keeps quiet, maybe she'll go unnoticed until enough time has passed that her leg won't be a burden. But what if that doesn't happen until sunup? If someone sees her like this -
But if she calls out, if someone makes it back here before Jack does...
She takes a breath. What if Jack doesn't come back? He promised he would, but—]
Jack! [Something inside her snaps.] Jack! Please come back! I fell, I— Jack, please..!
[...here's hoping she doesn't attract someone hostile, instead of her partner.]
Don't leave me alone! ...you promised...
[Her abandonment issues are overriding her survival instincts, it seems.]

zone 2 - around 2pm - jungle
sougi in particular was the one leading, between him and his partner. he feels that hijikata is more useless than ever, being given a walkie-talkie rather than an actual weapon. whatever, at least now, he can kill hijikata and he'd be defenseless.
... that's actually a good idea.
maybe later.
he's lazy.
they managed to kill a pretty rare hyena on their way to zone 2, so that's... something, at least. it took a while for sougo to grab a good and decent bone, but he ended up carving its tip into a blade sharp enough to kill. in his standards, anyway. stupid hijikata, having to rely on him for weapon.
now they were in the jungle, collecting food. lots of it! ]
Where should we go next? And you better not be putting mayo on the fruits. I'll really kill you.
Re: zone 2 - around 2pm - jungle
[By this point, Hijikata was starting to look a little antsy. It's kind of curious as to why, but his temper had been increasing and he's been fidgeting with his fingers endlessly. Why? Oh yeah.
The addiction to nicotine is strong in this one.
While it hasn't hit too badly yet, it's getting there.]
I wish there was mayonnaise out here, but we're just gonna have to manage to survive off of what we've got.

ARENA EFFECTS
In Zone 0, the volcano begins emitting large clouds of ash and smoke, making it difficult to see and breathe.
In Zone 1, a thunderstorm begins to brew, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and lightning strikes within half an hour.
In Zone 2, the temperature drops to the freezing point.
In Zone 3, a thick fog blankets the jungle, greatly reducing visibility.
Zone 2 | 10:00 PM | Beach Cabin
In the meantime, with the doors to the cabin shut, he'll be trying to put together all the wilderness courses he took last week to build a fire.]
no subject
But regardless of whether or not Kyouya's got a fire going by the time they get to the door, he'll be knocking first, too wary of traps to poke his head in even with the temperatures. He's hoping they'll be bumping into some familiar faces here, but he's ready to book it to hang out with the sheep if that isn't the case.]
