blood match day one

game start

28 players remaining

The morning the game starts, all pairs will be escorted from their rooms by friendly robot buddies into their own underwater shuttle waiting to take them to the arena. Should anyone try to resist, the collar around their neck will start beeping ominously and their friendly robot escort will become a lot less friendly and a lot more forceful. While in the shuttle, each player will be stripped of whatever clothing or items they have on them. The robot buddies will give each player the following:
- a uniform consisting of a light water-resistant jacket, a t-shirt with the words BLOOD MATCH '15 emblazoned on it, track pants, and standard-issue undergarments. All clothing has been tailored to the player's size perfectly and comes in a classy shade of steel grey.
- a small backpack which holds: three matches, a small canteen with a day's worth of water, and a day's worth of packaged rations
- a digital watch
- a booklet with all the character information cards in it
- a randomly assigned tool

The shuttle ride lasts for around half an hour, docking in a large garage. A friendly robot buddy will then guide each pair into their own elevator and a countdown will begin from 10. Once the countdown hits zero, the elevators will rise and the players will emerge in a shallow bay of what appears to be a volcanic island.

(OOC: Please update your character's info card with the ranking they would have likely received based on observation of their stay at the training facility. Rankings should be between 1-10.

Also, when starting a thread, please put in your header the following: ZONE # - TIME - AREA. This will hopefully make it easier for everyone to keep track of which character is where.)

They're out there, somewhere. They have to want some of us to survive long enough to make this interesting.

[She shrugs.] If we don't find them ourselves, all we have to do is find someone who did and take it from them. [And, uh, kill them.]

[LAUGHING gosh Mayu, so ambitious.]

It would probably be easier to scavenge on our own, so let's try that and save taking from other people for later. They might have traps set up if they have to put their supplies down or to take out anyone who might kill them for their water or food, right?

[That's sure what Jack would do, anyway... BUT CORPSES ARE CLEARLY BETTER BAIT.]
glasshole: (thoughtful | it's really unacceptable)

Personally, I would be wary of any food that's too easy to come by. In fact, I think it would be best if we take what we can carry from the farm and abandon it.

[personal profile] onewith 2015-03-23 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
We took backpacks from the people we... ran into, so we can use them to carry more food.

[She pauses, looking like she's considering something very seriously, and then looks to Jack.]

You and I should each keep one, but do you think it's okay to leave one with Ootori-san and Suoh-san?
dramatist: (who me??)

[personal profile] dramatist 2015-03-23 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds like a good idea to me! [The farm one, that is.

He'll glance over at Mayu once the question is posed, but there's no real hesitation before he nods.]

If it's something the two of you can use, go ahead and take one.

[...Considering.]

I'm certain it's obvious, but Tamaki doesn't need to know about the people you've run into. Any spare backpacks we found on the beach.

But yes, I'm sure it's helpful. Ah, and it's not much, but we do have access to a first aid kit. My family are in medicine, so I hope to be of use with it.

Tamaki has some sort of poison, but convincing him to let us use it will take some persuasion.

[personal profile] onewith 2015-03-23 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
"On the beach"...

[She glances over at Tamaki, a little puzzled.] He'll believe that?

[He's going to have to if he doesn't want to accept the fact that he's keeping company with murderers, Mayu supposes.]

We'll be depending on you, Ootori-san. [He probably can't fix her leg, but the first aid kit should keep their group from having any minor injuries go untreated and turn major.] ...you probably have the best chance of convincing Suoh-san to give up the poison... you know him best of any of us.

[And he's also not crazy.]
dramatist: (fill the silence)

[personal profile] dramatist 2015-03-23 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
[Jack doesn't feel quite as much doubt as Mayu may over that... POOR TAMAKI.]

You can pick which one you want. Oh— but that's useful! Even if I'd rather hope we never have to rely on it. [That sure would be nice... #wishful thinking.

As far as poisons go:]
It might be better to just let him keep it for now. There's not really a shortage of poisonous things around to use if that's what we decide to do, right?
glasshole: (irritated | give up on your dreams)

[personal profile] glasshole 2015-03-23 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
He'll believe it. [Actually, he isn't sure; Tamaki can surprise you with perceptiveness. But he won't question it too much, probably.]

I think that's right. If it comes to a need, he won't be any trouble. Just let me know. [And in fact he already gave the poison to Kyouya anyway. All he's trying to avoid now is Jack and Mayu finding out they have poison and thinking they deliberately hid its existence.]
onewith: (075)

[personal profile] onewith 2015-03-23 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
[That's a very good thing considering how Holden hid the fact that he had a dagger from her... she's got that dagger now, but she'll be pretty ticked when it comes to that point in the kill thread.

Mayu looks down at the booklet for a moment or two.]

...is there anyone in here you think might be trouble?
dramatist: (anklebiters)

[personal profile] dramatist 2015-03-23 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Jack, on the other hand, probably wouldn't be too fussed either way... Good work, champ.

But he'll glance over when she holds the booklet out, even though he's already spent a lot of time focusing on that exact topic and pretty much has what he views as the biggest threats mapped out.]

Outside of the obvious numbers, the people who went for packs and crates immediately. The ones who aren't willing to take those risks will be dangerous in their own way, but probably not as quickly.

glasshole: (intrigued | ah you're an idiot)

[personal profile] glasshole 2015-03-23 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
[For a moment, he wonders if Mayu means in here. But Jack's comment puts him back on course. It's easy enough to pretend that these people are his friends for now.]

The rankings can be deceptive, but I'd be wary of anyone with a particularly high ranking who doesn't seem as though it should be high. One comes to mind in particular - Ryou Bakura's interview was nearly entirely tripe about friendship and loathing violence and all working together. And on his card? 7.9.

Beyond that, Saitou and Okita strike me as worthy of caution. They're well trained and seem serious.
onewith: (068)

[personal profile] onewith 2015-03-23 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
Bakura-san... That is a little worrying. He's either a good actor, or...

[Jack seems to know him better - just judging from the interaction they'd briefly had before - so she looks at him to see his reaction to that. Kyouya brings up a great point about Saitou and Okita, and Mayu nods.]

Okita-san seems like the type to laugh as he kills. [Mayu knows all about that. Seriously.]
dramatist: (gamble)

[personal profile] dramatist 2015-03-23 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
[He sure seems to be. Bullshitters Anonymous has been formed and Jack knows of at least one or two other members...]

I like all three of them! [Which is probably aLL THE WARNING ANYONE NEEDS... And of course, he follows that cheerful declaration up with something more pragmatic.]

I'd say we should deal with them quickly before they can build up a stockpile of weapons, but I don't think they'll really need anything fancy. [Then, holding a hand up in an explanatory gesture:] Saitou seems like the most straight-forward and I bet he'd be the least likely to go out of his way to kill, but he's just as dangerous as the other two.

[personal profile] glasshole 2015-03-23 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Even the ones who are hesitant to act will act once they run out of supplies or see that our numbers are dwindling. I think dealing with them quickly is a sound strategy.
onewith: (056)

[personal profile] onewith 2015-03-23 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
We'll keep an eye on them.

[And end up, y'know, committing murder with one of them. That's probably not exactly what Kyouya had in mind...]

But, I agree. The sooner everyone is taken care of, the better...

[She wants to go home to Mio, and fast.]
dramatist: (terrible)

[personal profile] dramatist 2015-03-23 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[Jack will sure be all right with it, though... What nice fellow murderers running around!!]

If that's the case, let's do our best to conserve our energy and prepare. Tomorrow will be a big day!
glasshole: (pleasant | let's see how this turns out)

[personal profile] glasshole 2015-03-24 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed. Tell me if you need me to wake my partner so you can get some rest. If you kick him a little, he wakes up.
onewith: (050)

[personal profile] onewith 2015-03-24 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
It's okay if he sleeps for now. [Get your beauty sleep while you still can Tamaki...] It seems like he's had a long, hard day...
dramatist: (wow look at how much i care)

[personal profile] dramatist 2015-03-24 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Yeah, Tamaki needs more sleep than all three of them combined, possibly...]

It's a good thing you didn't run into too much trouble in the end, but emotional stress can wear someone out just as fast.
glasshole: (thoughtful | all things considered)

[personal profile] glasshole 2015-03-24 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
He'll be fine.

[He says it a little dismissively, but only because the last thing he wants is for Jack and Mayu to view Tamaki as easy prey. Easier than he must already come across. Kyouya is worried about him, in his own fairly callous way, but keeping them both alive is more important.]

I can't deny he isn't cut out for this, but in his own way he may be our most valuable player. Tamaki has a way of surprising your expectations. [Only a mild exaggeration. It's true generally, but this probably won't be one of those times.]
onewith: (036)

[personal profile] onewith 2015-03-24 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
He reminds me a little of my sister.

[Nobody wants to hear that from you, Mayu.]

Kind and gentle, even in a place like this... But she was stronger than she looked, too. I wonder how strong Suoh-san will become here.
dramatist: (????)

[personal profile] dramatist 2015-03-25 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
[In the distance, Kaoru nods approvingly. #siscons unite

Jack glances over since he's probably used to Mayu suddenly waxing poetics about her mystery sibling by now, head canting a little to the side.]

I guess they say that you can always learn what really makes a person when they're put into a difficult situation, right?
glasshole: (pleasant | that suits me just fine)

[personal profile] glasshole 2015-03-25 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
[He smiles fondly at Mayu recalling her sister, thinking to himself what scum both of them are.

He finds this insincere sentimentality kind of an appalling display; it's his one of his own favorite techniques, but he can't help but sneer at it internally. Of course, none of that shows at all.]

Very true. I think we'll find out what many people are made of in the coming days.

I can see why you're so anxious to get home to her. You must care about her a lot.
onewith: (099)

[personal profile] onewith 2015-03-25 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
She's the most precious person in the world to me.

[This sentiment, at least, is utterly sincere, albeit in a twisted, broken way. Tamaki does remind her of Mio in some ways - that much is also true - but not enough for her to spare him. Even Mio being Mio wasn't enough for Mayu to spare her.]

...I just have to think, "She's waiting for me," and I'll always find the strength to keep going.
