day five

blood match day five

open arena

13 players remaining

Overnight, the temperature drops to around freezing point as the wind begins to pick up. The change may come as a relief in the early hours of morning as the muggy heat and humidity from the previous days is swept away. By 10AM however, you may begin wishing for the heat back as the chill begins to set in and the wind gets stronger. From noon to 3PM in Zones 0 and 1, tornadoes begin touching down; they aren't strong enough to cause massive damage, but they will cause debris to fly around at fast enough speeds to severely injure or even kill anyone in its way. Zones 3 and 4 will be continuously pelted by golf-ball sized hail from morning to mid afternoon. By 5PM, all of the more dangerous weather conditions seem to have mostly cleared up, though the strong winds and chill remains.

As the sun rises, an announcement plays:

Good morning, contestants! Today, Zone 2 is off-limits. If you're in Zone 2, you have an hour to leave it!

Also, we've been getting complaints that some of you might not be appreciating your fans enough! To show you just how important their support is, we've released a little bug into the air today. Not enough to kill anyone, of course - we wouldn't want to take over any of the real action here - but it might make your life inconvenient and shorter unless you start winning a few sponsorships.

Speaking of which, it's the fifth day, so you all know what that means! That's right, it's time for Five Fun Funerals! Anyone who kills one of the following five people will get double the sponsorship prizes! And your five volunteers aaaaarrrrreeee....Nui Harime, Norway, Saitou Hajime, Souji Okita, and Bakura! Have fun!

True to these words, an hour from sunrise, the tunnel and trail to Zone 2 will be locked off by a thick metal gate and the rope bridge will be snapped. The rest of the arena is still accessible, including Zone 4 where the gates from yesterday have gone down.

Additionally, all remaining players will start to feel a little sick and feverish when they wake up. Unless they acquire the cure through a sponsorship, the symptoms will quickly get worse as the day goes on. The disease seems to be similar to the common flu: symptoms include fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, coughing, stuffed nose, weakness, etc.

(OOC: When starting a thread, please put in your header the following: ZONE # - TIME - AREA. This will hopefully make it easier for everyone to keep track of which character is where.

Please remember to update the Weekly Check-in with your character's planned movements. Check in is due by Monday at 9 PM)

Right? [She gives a slightly subdued chuckle, but... If she still had a world of her own to go back to, she'd totally just save it and hawk it. Kyouya's neutrality doesn't bother her. As long as he isn't attacking, she'd rather see his true face than some character he invented anyway. On the other hand, she'll at least be fairly affable, since she doesn't really want to get on his bad side - he's one of the people in this dark game that are still a mystery to her. But she crosses her arms at his question.]

Well, it doesn't really matter. I'm not so interested in their show of dominance... or their marriage proposals at that.

[If all the other players are sick too, then it's an even playing field until she sees who else has taken it. Especially if the cure is that effective, she can probably wait until it becomes necessary. He doesn't need to know if she has it or not, but her implication (despite its bite) that she's been in their favor should lead him to assume that she's confident she can take care of herself regardless. Or possibly is just that prideful.]

Hmm.

[He's not sure what she means, or whether that means she has a cure. But he assumes she does, or otherwise she wouldn't have jumped to the conclusion he was given a cure rather than that he was never sick at all. As for marriage proposals, he's not interested in learning her meaning. Who exactly is proposing marriage here? Honestly, she's a rather plain and unappealing girl to his assessment. He hopes she doesn't take the sponsorship nonsense too seriously.

On the other hand...]

What about their other proposal? What was it..."Five Fun Funerals"? What are your thoughts on that?

[It's just as well that he doesn't ask since it wasn't really directed at him; she only takes that part seriously enough to make digs at it, since she's sure they can hear. Kyouya gets a harder look at the mention of the funerals. Some of them she had already considered killing for one reason or another, in moments of stress where she desired nothing more but to get off the island... There were existing and potential alliances to consider as well, but the fact that she had barely seen or heard from any of them lately left room for a gnawing doubt. Even the two Shinsengumi, who she thought she got along well with and would rather not fight, she couldn't help but worry that they were getting too strong. So... she won't pretend that it doesn't tempt her. Any of them.]

... The people they chose would be challenging to fight, I believe. But it would be dangerous to ignore. I'm not so optimistic to believe no one else would take them up on their 'fun' bargain.

[That would mean any bounty hunters would rapidly gain a distinct advantage over the rest of the people on the island. Most of the people here already ranked higher than her, so that might not be an affordable risk. She had never planned on rolling over and dying if it got to the point where their necklaces would go off. It's frustrating, though. It hadn't even been a week yet and things had already escalated this much...]

Yes. It's concerning. Unfortunately, some of those people are very unstable, and I think it's likely they'll be so ready to believe their lives are in danger, they'll become much more dangerous to the rest of us now. I worry the casualties today will be high.

[This is sort of a load of crap, and he doesn't expect her to buy it, but it's better for him to at least on the surface pretend he's not actually proposing something as cold blooded as he is.]

Though with things as they are, at least those of us who aren't targets can see there's no sense in having conflict with one another when five dangerous people are on the loose.
