week 0 - training facility

When you first wake up in your room, an announcement will play on the television.
You’ll be spending your first week before the game officially starts at a vast facility that has been completely submerged underwater. This facility consists of a central hub surrounded by four smaller spherical buildings. You can get to each subsection by either taking a shuttle or walking across a long glass tunnel.

Homestuck trollgrey-skinned man with a large rack (of horns) ambling by. He peers at the battleaxe and snorts derisively.]No point using anything with an edge that blunt.

Instead, he's only looking vaguely impressed. This person looks like someone who could literally murder someone just by bopping them over the head with a fist okay...]
I guess even brute strength would be hampered a little by a poor weapon... Which one would you pick for yourself?
[Curiously tilting his head in the direction of the weapons racks!]

Hmm...[He looks over the weapons and shakes his head.] I'm not a big fan of iron and steel - they rust fast and they're so boring. You want a decent blade, you gotta go for the rarer materials. Volcanic aurum, maybe. Personally, I'm a dawnstone kind of guy.

Dawnstone! What a lovely name. I've never heard of that before... [But he seems impressed anyway?! Maybe just because it sounds like a magical equip item.]
Volcanic aurum isn't familiar-sounding, either. I know some people who can make glass from volcanic ash, but I'd guess that would be better suited for a display case than a battle. Nice to look at, but not very reliable.

Now that does sound lovely! Goodness, if we had weapons made of something like that where I come from, I feel like no one would ever fight.
[Everyone would just strike fancy poses in front of the setting sun...]
