When you first wake up in your room, an announcement will play on the television.

You’ll be spending your first week before the game officially starts at a vast facility that has been completely submerged underwater. This facility consists of a central hub surrounded by four smaller spherical buildings. You can get to each subsection by either taking a shuttle or walking across a long glass tunnel.

[ And there is an Atsuko here, idly swinging around a rapier at a training dummy. It's pretty obvious she's not concentrating on practice. Her mind is definitely elsewhere, as she starts humming various tunes timed to the sword's movements. ]

[Haruhi wanders over. Between her casualwear and armor choices, plus the shinai in her hand, she vaguely aesthetically resembles a kendoka. Underneath the mask, her face has a vague interest in Atsuko, typically reserved for a colorful insect.]

Is that an epee?

An...epee? [ blinking ] I'm not sure what you mean.

[kouyouensei]

To be honest, I don't actually know what I mean either. I thought it was some kind of rapier, and then you have sabers plus... a third kind. I was in fencing club once.

[For a day.]

[cygni]

Oh, it must be a type of rapier, then. [ a pause ]

I never learned the different names, to be honest.

[kouyouensei]

Learn anything else about them at all? [She leans in to peer at the shape of the sword more closely.] From far away you looked a little more natural with it, I guess.

[cygni]

Well, how to fight with them. [ she shrugs. Every 0048 member had a unique style of combat. Hers happened to be rapiers. ]

But I'm not concentrating very hard right now.

[kouyouensei]

Awwww, I kinda wanna see what it'd be like if you're fired up.

[Haruhi takes a step back and grins.]

Hey, we're probably not gonna be fighting people with the exact same weapons, are we? Let's spar each other!

[That's not even grammatically correct, Haruhi, and you will be fighting people to the death]

[ fittingly, she looks a little apprehensive ]

[She grins with all her teeth. So white.]

If I knew how it was gonna turn out, what would the point be?

Hmm? Oh, don't worry, I'd never accidentally hit someone.

[ it does prompt her to sheathe the rapier, though ]

It doesn't serve for decent practice.

[Even if she didn't, he failed to see how such lackluster movements could be beneficial. Then again, he was very particular about swordsmanship.]

Of course. But subpar practice is better than standing around and brooding, isn't it?

[ She pretty much only busts out her rapier when she has to defend herself, anyway. ]

If you practice incorrectly, you won't be able to use those skills properly when the time comes.
