week 0 - training facility

When you first wake up in your room, an announcement will play on the television.
You’ll be spending your first week before the game officially starts at a vast facility that has been completely submerged underwater. This facility consists of a central hub surrounded by four smaller spherical buildings. You can get to each subsection by either taking a shuttle or walking across a long glass tunnel.

You already sound like you're prepared for anything! [He sounds vaguely impressed, too. Share some of that battle-readiness with people who could actually use it Saitou, gosh.]
Can I ask your name? Mine's Jack!
no subject
[...Saitou briefly wonders if this guy realizes he's going into a battle and not a beauty pagent.]
...Saitou.
[Yep, that's it.]

But there's definitely something about this Super Serious Guy that reminds Jack of a certain somewhat, and he can't help but feel a little pang of fondness for it. Oswald would handle a game like this terribly, though...]
Saitou! That's a nice name. Where are you from? My city is Sablier, if you've ever heard of it.
[Is he just not taking Saitou's warning about preparing seriously?? WHO KNOWS. He seems content to just chat in the meantime, swinging the axe to the side and using the end of the shaft to rest his arms against.]

Suddenly he's exchanging life stories with this guy? How did this even happen.]
I can't say I have.
[But that's not entirely surprising. If it surprises him at all, it doesn't show. But he does decide to answer in return.] Kyoto.

But that's just how things go with Jack, okay. One second he's throwing around glasses of water and suddenly he's best friends with everyone. He seems genuinely interested in what Saitou has to say, at least!]
Oh? I haven't heard of Kyoto, either. [But he also doesn't seem surprised, since Saitou's name itself had been so foreign.] Are you from a far-side country, maybe? Sablier is in [INSERT WEIRDASS FANTASYLAND COUNTRY NAME HERE].
[If it's not that, Jack knows Saitou is probably from an entirely different world, which isn't surprising either. TIME AND SPACE SHENANIGANS.]
no subject
He shook his head. Even hearing that, he has no idea what strange land Jack came from; although maybe that would explain the strangeness of the man himself.]
I doubt it can be said that you know the country I come from either then.
[No point in saying it then.]
no subject
But wow, this guy sure doesn't mince his words, huh? THE SIMILARITIES GROW AND GROW. Good thing Jack has plenty of practice when it comes to chatting with reticent strangers.]
What's Kyoto like? It snows all of the time where I come from. Is it cold there? Oh—! What about trees? Are there any large forests?
no subject
It can be. [...] Why are you so interested in this idle conversation?
[Please explain small talk to him.]

Being in a place with so many different people from so many different worlds is interesting, isn't it? So I'd like to learn what I can! Getting to know everyone here has been fun, too.
[So now Saitou is being mercilessly dragged along for the ride...]
Besides, there's no point in upsetting anyone more than they already are. Dwelling on the negative will just end up distressing everyone.
