blood match day three

open arena

20 players remaining

The morning begins as another hot and muggy day on the island, though there's a little more of a breeze, and as a result, the weather is slightly more pleasant. It's a calm day out on the seas, too, though there are a few clouds gathering in the skies. This morning, the birds in the jungle are chirping loudly.

As the sun rises, an announcement plays:

Good morning, contestants! You must now switch zones from where you were last night. You won't be allowed back into that zone until you hear from me again. Don't test the rules, or you might regret it!

Now, today will be a special day. There will be fun surprises all day long, so stay alert!

True to these words, throughout the day, you'll notice a number of dangerous situations seem to occur roughly every few hours, though trying to time your watch to it won't work perfectly. Still, you can expect the following throughout the day:
10 AM: An earthquake! The earthquake lasts about five minutes, and rumbling aftershocks take place throughout the hour. You might want to avoid anywhere rocks or trees could fall, and to try and avoid inside spaces, caves, or other shelters that could collapse. You might also want to avoid the beaches and seek higher ground, as dangerous waves crash onto the shore.

11 AM: Rain. A heavy rainfall will fall throughout the hour; if you're outside in it, you're liable to get soaked, but inside spaces may get flooded. During the rainfall, the waters will be choppy and dangerous.

1 PM: Lightning. In Zone 4, the zone hums with live electricity, sparking small fires and breaking windows. You should try and get away from anything electric. In the other zones, lightning strikes trees and sparks jungle fires. In Zone 3, the swamps become particularly toxic, and panicking animals are likely to attack.

3 PM: An aerial attack. Small devices, too far away to really see what they are, are up in the sky, and will drop items. The items may contain poison gas, may contain explosives, may contain food and water. The attacks will take place at random intervals for two hours - when one begins, you had better run and scatter.

6 PM: The volcano on Zone 0 rumbles ominously, and projects smoke into the sky. The smoke is thick, dark, and makes it hard to see and breathe. But nothing else happens. While immediately at this time the smoke is thick and dangerous, it dissipates but never completely leaves.

You can try to hide, run, or fight your way out of these situations. It's very likely that at some point you and your partner or crew will get split up, or have to run for it, but it's up to you where you go and what you do.

(OOC: When starting a thread, please put in your header the following: ZONE # - TIME - AREA. This will hopefully make it easier for everyone to keep track of which character is where.

Please remember to update the Weekly Check-in with your character's planned movements. Check in is due by Monday at 9 PM)

[Iceland stops when he's addressed, not wanting to draw closer or move away without assessing the situation first. He nods.]

And you're Kyouya Ootori. [Rating of 7.7, which stood out because it was only .1 lower than Norway's even though Kyouya's card said he was seventeen and in his interview he'd claimed to be a high school student.]

Did you get separated from your partner? [Even as he asks, he can't help but glance around to see if he can spot anyone else.]
glasshole: (intrigued | ah you're an idiot)

[personal profile] glasshole 2015-03-31 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
I did.

[Iceland memorized the cards. His estimation increases a little; it isn't as though there hasn't been time to do so, so it's quite the oversight on the part of anyone who hasn't.]

Let's get it out of the way. We're both looking for someone while dodging lightning strikes. Safe to presume you want additional difficulties no more than I do?

[Iceland nods, though he stays where he is for now. If Kyouya really is alone, then if they both keep their distance from each other it should be fine. He doesn't want to fight anyone right now. Norway would probably be upset, whenever he meets up with his brother again.]

I'm fine leaving you alone if you're fine leaving me alone. [Though he won't take it as any sort of promise or anything.]
glasshole: (irritated | not that i care but...)

[personal profile] glasshole 2015-03-31 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed, then.

[Though that doesn't mean he thinks he's out of danger. He's growing very concerned with the number of dangerous people in this zone at once.]

Are you and your partner staying in this area for now?
volcanoes: (a burnt child keeps away from the fire)

[personal profile] volcanoes 2015-03-31 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Iceland shrugs.] For now. [It's deliberately vague; for now could mean he's just passing through or it could mean he's staying the night, because he doesn't really want to give Kyouya information but neither does he want to make it sound like he's being too obnoxious about it (for once).] Is this where you're staying?
glasshole: (pleasant | that suits me just fine)

[personal profile] glasshole 2015-03-31 12:51 pm (UTC)(link)
For now. [If Iceland isn't forthcoming, he won't be either. But he doesn't like the idea of Iceland and Norway prowling around the area he's trying to find shelter in; he doesn't know enough about them to know whether they're looking for targets or just trying to survive.]

Have you tried the shops? There are useful provisions in some of them.
volcanoes: (if you wish to know what a man is)

[personal profile] volcanoes 2015-03-31 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been in and out of a few of them. [Not that many of them, really, and for the most part he just glanced in to make sure Norway wasn't there, but it still counted.] If you're claiming one of them, I'll stay out of the way.

[Because it would be monumentally stupid to just wander into a place like that.]
glasshole: (smug | by the way i'm a dick)

[personal profile] glasshole 2015-03-31 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
The clothing shop. There's nothing too interesting in there, but I certainly don't claim it. You and your partner are welcome to look around.

[He doesn't really mean that; he would be unhappy if they came by. But this is his way of saying, not only don't you have the element of surprise, but we'll be expecting it. Not worth the risk.]

Are you claiming anywhere?
volcanoes: (least said soonest mended)

[personal profile] volcanoes 2015-04-01 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's definitely something he'll make note of and tell Norway later, whenever he finds Norway again.]

We wouldn't want to bother you guys. [Message received, Iceland has no desire to walk into any sort of trap.] We haven't claimed anything yet.

[Iceland doesn't know how long Kyouya has been exploring this zone--he couldn't have been here the day before, but he could easily have been here before Iceland and Norway. He isn't about to make up a claim when Kyouya could know they were lying.]

I guess most people will be heading back to their original zones after today, anyway.
glasshole: (intrigued | ah you're an idiot)

[personal profile] glasshole 2015-04-02 12:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps so. [Non-committal, he isn't going to tell Iceland either way.] For the two of you, that's a little far, though, isn't it? [He actually has no idea where Iceland and Norway have been. Mayu made a vague comment about seeing them, and he knows Zone 3 is an ugly mess no one would want to make shelter in and it can't have been Zone 4. So he drops the somewhat threatening implication just to see how it lands.]

Well, please don't consider us any trouble to you.
volcanoes: (if you wish to know what a man is)

[personal profile] volcanoes 2015-04-05 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[There's a sharpness in Iceland's eyes when Kyouya brings up the distance that he can't hide; he's not as good at guarding his expressions as Norway. It's obvious enough to someone good at reading people: he's trying to figure out what Kyouya knows or doesn't know and how he knows it. His brain sorts through options rapidly, and then his face smooths over again.]

It's not too difficult for us to travel around. We're not looking for trouble, so we should coexist just fine here for as long as we're here.

[They're not hunting victims; Iceland is willing to make that clear since he's still not sure if Kyouya was bluffing knowing they were originally in zone one or not.]
